This is an interview with my father:
Where did you live when you were young?
I lived in a small town in Romania called Dorohoi.
Can you tell me about the past of the city?
Well the city is a town with 50 thousand inhabitants. It was founded
200 years ago. In the past, there were many Jews in the city but they
left. The town was very like country side.
Do you feel that since you came to Petah Tikva, the city changed?
No, I don't.
My father, Tzahi, was born in Petah-Tikva, in the Kfar-Ganim
neighborhood.
His family lived in Kfar-Ganim since its first days. At that time the
neighborhood was full of orchards, there were only a few roads, and
there was a lot of sand.
Every family knew the other families that lived there. There were no
high buildings, only private houses with gardens and trees. Al most
every family had some animals in the yard, like sheep, cows, ducks,
and chickens.
Nowadays, Kfar-Ganim and all Petach-Tikva have changed a lot. There
are high buildings, many roads and many vehicles. Petach-Tikva has a
big industry zone. There are many factories, Hi-Tech offices, also
restaurants and big stores. The population has grown and Petah-Tikva
became a big city.
This information I received by talking to my father and I liked
hearing about our city.
