The settlement in Petah - Tikva started in 1878, when Yoel Moshe Salomon and his friends: Zerach Brant, David Gutmann and Yehoshua Stampfer founded the city that was a little settlement, and turned into a big city. These people were a little group religious pioneers from Jerusalem.

They had many problems to found this settlement. The Ottomans didn't let them build in their land. It was very difficult for them to buy the land and build it. After they bought and build the settlement they needed to cope with the malaria, which was founded there.

After they managed with the malaria, many people settled there. Also people from different countries settled there after they did immigration to Israel. They were people from Iraq, Morocco and other countries. They arrived to the transit camp in Amishav. It was hard to live there, the food was expensive. And they needed to live in sheds, they were many families in one shed.

But now Petah - Tikva is a big city, people have a comfortable life. It is a center of work and settlements. But we cannot forget the small settlement that Petah - Tikva was.
