Grace Wilbur Trout was born in Iowa and in 1884, married George Trout. Then they moved their hardware business to Chicago. While in Chicago, Grace wrote a book called A Mormon Wife. In 1903, they moved to Oak Park to a house on Forest Ave. By 1906, Grace had lots of friends and her and her husband joined societies that were active in the women’s suffrage rights. Grace joined the Chicago Women’s Club and the Nineteenth Century Women’s Club. And finally, in 1913, thanks to them, the women’s suffrage bill was signed into law.

Grace Wilbur Trout

Grace was a very active woman and quickly became a very affective person in the community. She joined to the women club. She was also a member of the Chicago Political Equity League and the Chicago Woman's Club.

In 1910, Grace Wilbur Trout was elected president of the Chicago Political Equity League and immediately took steps to make woman suffrage a popular issue.

She died on October 21, 1955, at the age of 91. Grace Wilbur Trout was a wife, mother, activist, orator, organizer, and politician. It is no wonder she earned the name, "The Woman Who Never Fails."
